Biscoot Ambodo - Die Die must try.

An amazing evening snack made in many Konkani homes as a substitute to  bhajjis. Made with soaked urad dal, this dish is a perfect snack packed with protein. I wouldn't say its healthy, it's deep fried but I'm willing to devour a plateful of this delicious dish any day. It's what I crave for on a rainy day, with a side of chai.

Biscoot Ambodo, Uridache ambade, Split black gram fritters.

Ingredients

1 cup urad dal soaked for 4 hours
1 tsp asafoetida/hing
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp rava (optional but recommended)
1 tsp finely chopped ginger
1 tsp finely chopped green chilli
1 sprig of finely chopped curry leaves
1/4 tsp whole pepper
Oil for deep frying

Let's get started

Step 0 - Soak the urad dal for about 4 hours.
Step 1 - Strain all excess water from the dal and put it in a mixie along hing and salt. Grind to a fine paste.
Step 2 - Add the rest of the ingredients (except oil) and give it a good mix
Step 3 - Heat oil in a Karahi, shape the dough into balls and fry till golden brown
Step 4 - Serve hot with a good runny coconut chutney

Notes:
  1. If you have chopped coconut do add it to the dough, it tastes absolutely delicious
  2. The rava adds that extra crunch to the ambode's
